Provision of support to the Serbian government in the implementation of the National PVE Strategy

The objective of the project is to provide support to the government on the implementation of the National PVE Strategy. In cooperation with the line ministries, this project allowed UNDP Serbia to help develop thematic plans of action on VE. These plans of actions always fell within the area of focus of a given line ministry.

Support to Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts, Reconciliation, Respect for Diversity and Community Security

The objective is to respond to VE through multi-layered development solutions, built around resilience, community safety, socioeconomic development, security sector reform. This project will conduct research on LEA capacities to deal with VE cases. This research will include their relationship vis-a-vis stakeholders in referral mechanism. A concept note will be published in 2018.

Referral Mechanism – Lessons Learned and Best Practices

On 26 October 2017, the Embassy of Italy in Pristina, in cooperation with UNDP – United Nations Development Programme, will be hosting an event on “Referral Mechanism – Lessons Learned and Best Practices”.

The Referral Mechanism, piloted in the Municipality of Gjilan, is Kosovo’s (as per UNSC resolution 1244) first mechanism, which offers support to vulnerable individuals at risk of radicalisation. During this event, UNDP will present the mechanism, lessons learned and best practices, which can be used to develop and expand this mechanism further.

Support to Prevention and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE) in the Western Balkans

The regional action, funded by the EU instrument IPA II 2016, will contribute to sustainable regional cooperation efforts in the Western Balkans in the area of CT, P/CVE, dealing with phenomena of FTFs and radicalization in the designated period.
The action will assist the WB countries in their efforts by transferring EU good practices and standards. It will further support the setting up of a national inter-ministerial P/CVE platform in each WB country, mirrored by multi-agency co-ordination arrangements at the local level to ensure a top-down and bottom-up approach to P/CVE as well as it will represent a solid and sustainable ground for P/CVE national capacities. Furthermore, the action will provide support to several small-scale actions.

The project is coordinated by DCAF Ljubljana, and the implementation partners are the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Sarajevo, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Provision of Employment and Job Training for Youth

The objective is to provide job training and employment for youth through wage subsidy programme in cooperation with employment offices and private sector. Through a pilot project, this activity is providing opportunities for youth to engage in meaningful and productive activities.

Responding to VE through multi-layered development solutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The objective was to respond to VE through multi-layered development solutions, built around resilience, community safety, socioeconomic development, and security sector reform. By:

  • providing support to the legislative and regulatory reform;
  • developing the capacity of law enforcement and enhancing regional & international cooperation;
  • coordinating the reporting & knowledge management of VE and PVE activities in BiH.

Increasing the capacity of front-line workers to identify signs of radicalization

The objective is to increase the capacity of front-line workers on identification of signs of radicalization. Main points:

  • Utilizing EU Bounce resilience tools, this project trained front-line worker to identify signs of radicalization.
  • This project is developing a case studies handbook for teachers in cooperation with EFD.
