IISG Participates in Regional Conference of the Financial Investigation Units
During 3-4 October, Ms Jelka Klemenc, IISG, is taking part in the Regional Conference of Financial Investigations Units, organised by UNODC in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, hosted by the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) BiH. The event takes place in the framework of the IPAII2017 Multi-Country Action “Support to Integrative Internal Security Governance”. Heads of FIUs of Albania, BiH, Croatia, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia are taking part, joined also by high-level representatives of Moneyval, Cepol, OSCE and IISG. The platform represents an important venue for the exchange of good practice, trust building, exchange of information; it includes closed sessions serving as a venue for open cooperation and constructive discussions regarding results of Moneyval rounds of mutual evaluations and self-assessments according to FATF. Money laundering and improving financial investigations are among the region’s priorities in the IISG pillar on Serious and Organised Crime, where the efforts of the international community are provided visibility and duplications are prevented.
