Between 10th and 11th September 2018, the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Centre for European Perspective (CEP) are organizing the 13th Bled Strategic Forum at Lake Bled, Slovenia. By seeking new perspectives in traditional perceptions, the organizers’ aim will be to engage participants in meaningful discussions about how we govern our societies and how we bring up and educate the next generation (see concept paper here). This year’s forum will have a special focus on the Western Balkan region and European Cooperation. The IISG had the privilege to been given a placement in the form of an additional panel on the Western Balkans entitled “Engagement, Conditionality, or both? Security and rule-of-law through the renewed EU perspective” on 11th September in the early afternoon. The main purpose of the panel will be to highlight the state-of-play in regional internal security reform and cooperation.
