Youth and violent extremism on social media: mapping the research
November 30, 2017
UNESCO has published in November 2017 a research report, entitled “Youth and violent extremism on social media: mapping the research” by independent experts Séraphin Alava, Divina Frau-Meigs, Ghayda Hassan (with the collaboration of Hasna Hussein and Yuanyuan Wei). This work provides a global mapping of research (mainly during 2012-16) into the assumed roles played by social media in violent radicalization processes, especially as they affect youth and women across all the regions of the world.
