Following the 7th IISG Board decision, IISG Secretariat initiated the national thematic meetings with WB Partners to complete the third annual response mapping and initiate the second needs mapping.

On 18 April 2024, the IISG Secretariat organised National Working Group meetings in Tirana for the Western Balkans Integrative Internal Security Governance (IISG) three pillars: the Western Balkan Counterterrorism Initiative (WBCTi), the Western Balkan Countering Serious Crime Initiative (WBCSCi), and the Western Balkan Border Security Initiative (WBBSi). This significant gathering engaged in a detailed evaluation of the 2023 response mapping report, addressed conclusions drawn from the second needs mapping, and discussed advancements regarding the IISG database development.

During these productive sessions, representatives of the Ministry of Interior and the Albanian State Police affirmed their commitment to update and define new needs. They also resolved to finalise the 3rd Annual Response Mapping Report.

These meetings underscore our ongoing dedication to strengthening regional security cooperation and ensuring a cohesive approach to addressing critical security challenges in the Western Balkans. After the completion of the third response mapping on three pillars, IISG Secretariat will convene the regional group meetings to finalise the second needs mapping and present it to the next IISG Board for approval.
