“Enhance cooperation in the fight against international drug trafficking” meeting in Athens, Greece.

All European actors involved in the fight against drug trafficking in South-Eastern Europe, known as Balkan Europe, meet on Tuesday 27th and 28th of September 2022, in Athens for a seminar to strengthen police cooperation. This seminar, which took place behind closed doors, was organized at the initiative of the Directorate of International Security Cooperation (DCIS) of the French Ministry of the Interior. “Police cooperation within the SEE region, which is the south-eastern flank of French and European internal security, is a priority of France,” the DCIS said in a statement.
At the meeting, different speakers provided a situation on the trafficking routes and details on concrete police and judicial operational cooperation among SEE members, all this in close cooperation with EU Institutions and EU member states.
The IISG Secretariat presented the IISG state of play and the dynamics of WB law enforcement cooperation in all three pillars. It was well presented the needs mapped at the regional level and the IISG database which is a guaranty mechanism for enhancing synergies, avoiding duplications among different stakeholders, and covering possible gaps in the assistance given to WB Partners. The IISG Secretariat was presented by Agron Sojati, the Head of the IISG Secretariat.
This French initiative is another contribution to the well-known French support towards Southeast Europe, especially in the crucial area of internal security.
