Database training sessions in Tirana, Albania

In line with the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the Integrative Internal Security Governance (IISG), one of the core tasks of the IISG is to analyse whether the needs are adequately addressed, to prevent duplications and gaps in responses, and to suggest and facilitate potential synergies.

For this purposes, the IISG Secretariat developed the IISG Secure Database (IISG-D). The database was developed through engaging IT company (ARK IT) and it is designed to provide detailed information on regional projects, follow up on the dynamics of the projects’ realization with a clear overview of the IISG pillars covered with the intervention on multilateral basis, through collecting of comprehensive and up-to-date data for those activities. The IISG Secretariat have organized together withWB6 Partners, Albania and Kosovo* a training workshop for the IISG Secure Database in Tirana, Albania on the 19th and 20th of October 2021. The training was delivered by the representatives of ARK IT. The participants were present during the two day training and one of the core tasks of the IISG was to analyze whether the needs are adequately addressed, to prevent duplications and gaps in responses and to suggest and facilitate potential synergies.

The Head of IISG Secretariat (HoS), Mr. Agron Sojati briefed on the Methodology for mapping support to the IISG needs through the IISG Database (IISG-D) and purpose and scope of work of the IISG – D.  Also saying that this database aims not only to register the information from IISG members on their ongoing and planned actions in the WB region but also each project needs to reflect the needs of the Partners, with the aim of creating a consolidated and up-to-date overview of ongoing and future actions from a regional perspective per each of the IISG three pillars:
1) Western Balkan Counter-Terrorism Initiative;
2) WBCSCi – Western Balkan Counter Serious Crime Initiative
3) WBBSi – Western Balkan Border Security Initiative.

The participants were briefed by representatives of Ark IT, on system architecture and functionalities, reports and timeframe for data upload. Following the training session, the participants have clear understanding of the Methodology for mapping support to the IISG needs through the IISG Secure Database (IISG-D), and acquired solid knowledge on the Platform Overview. The participants  opened accounts (profiles) in the IISG Secure Database, and the first set of data was introduced in the Platform.

The Database training workshop will be followed by the second training workshop in Belgrade, Serbia on the 26th and 27th of October, where the rest of the WB6 Partners will be present in person.
